The fact that all the employees of the company Südzucker AG in Mannheim are now concentrated at the location on Maximillianstrasse creates an opportunity for a new orientation of its urban design. By creating a common forecourt between Maximillianstrasse and Otto-Beck-Strasse, the newly designed ensemble receives a distinctively fitting presence in the urban environment.
The high standards which were applied to give a cohesive appearance to the existing high-rise building and the new extension were also consistently implemented in the layout of the outdoor area. The forecourt offers a representative driveway to the main entrance foyer of the Südzucker headquarters. The company also obtains a new visibility in the urban environment. The newly designed forecourt brings the whole ensemble nearer to the tree-lined avenue Otto-Beck-Strasse.
