The design’s starting point was the distinctive tree population, which defines the character of the area and has a significant influence on the urban layout. Three residential buildings blend into the existing parkland and form a communal courtyard as the neighbourhood’s central open space. The architecture acts as a bridge between the buildings and the landscape, reinterpreting the brick style typical of the area and creating a spatial interplay between housing and open space.
In addition to 19 residential units, space is being created for a paediatrician’s practice as well as places for socialising and fostering a sense of community. Rainwater is retained on site and allowed to infiltrate the ground. Furthermore, the concept involves assessing existing building components and materials for their suitability for reuse, thereby incorporating circular economy principles into the planning.
