Over long stretches, the Ruhr represents a linear landscape and recreational area. This is also true for the areas directly north and south of the
south of Mülheim’s city center. Streets and squares are brought close to the Ruhr, the north-south connection is represented by a promenade, which also
which also has an urban character. It is integrated into a network of paths that extends north and south far beyond the city into the landscape. In the central area between the castle bridge and the railroad bridge, the city with its lively urbanity moves closer to the river and not vice versa the landscape with its tranquility to the city.
