A new, confidently modern and inviting entrance and forecourt area has been created for the museum. In addition, historical elements have been preserved, strengthened and adapted to today’s requirements through careful additions. And with specific regard to accessibility, the area has also been reorganised. The space in front of the museum can be used as an event space, while previously inaccessible colonnades have been reopened to visitors. Existing steps have been partially demolished and the Goethe statue has been protected.
