New construction of retail space and strengthening the attractiveness of the city centre
For the long-term development of Baesweiler, the construction of a new retail space with daily usability is a key element in strengthening the attractiveness of the city center. To unify the area, the existing pavement design of the Kirschstrasse has been extended to cover the central hub. Moreover, the area around the fire service tower has been freed up and widened considerably, in comparison to the existing situation, to allow better visibility and appeal for both the new Market and the tower.
In an additional effort to improve overall visibility and site clarity, an existing tree-gateway has been replaced with a row of trees on Kirschwinkel street; which opens the visual relationships not only to the new building but also to the infamous fire service landmark.
