The country road and through road in the district of Rhoden in Diemelstadt has been renovated. The design of two central squares was carried out for IB Oppermann. Footpaths, parking strips and pavements opening up into small squares now characterise the townscape. Areas along the street with seating in alcove-like spaces have been created. On the forecourt of the community centre, a round bench located around the new solitary tree invites people to linger. Access to the community centre is now more open and barrier-free. One section of the historic town wall has been extended. A watercourse at Denkmalplatz creates additional quality of stay and the opportunity for a water feature. Planters with integrated seating elements demarcate the square from the street. The memorial remains in its original location and has been moved back slightly against the wall. Commemorative plaques have also been placed next to the memorial. Access to public facilities and private houses along the country road is ensured by new entrances such as steps. New shrub and tree plantings along the road and some of the residents’ private areas round off the design.
